Sōtatsu-style Yellow-Glazed Matcha Bowl “Raijin” By Tohzan Kiln, Mino (Kato Tohzan)

Sōtatsu-style refers to decorative designs inspired by Tawaraya Sōtatsu, an influential painter of the early Edo period, known for his bold compositions and dynamic expressions.

This matcha bowl depicts Raijin, the god of thunder, powerfully rendered against a vibrant yellow glaze. In Japanese culture, Raijin symbolizes natural force, renewal, and protection, and has long been regarded as an auspicious figure believed to ward off misfortune.

Crafted at the Tohzan Kiln in Mino by Kato Tohzan, this piece brings together the dramatic visual language of Sōtatsu-style imagery with the solid craftsmanship characteristic of Mino ware. The result is a striking bowl that adds strength and presence to the tea setting.

【Care Instructions】

• Before use, lightly rinse the bowl with water.

• After use, gently wash with lukewarm water as soon as possible.
  In most cases, water alone is sufficient.

• If necessary, use a small amount of mild dish soap and a soft sponge.

• Please avoid scrubbing the painted areas or soaking the bowl for extended periods.

• Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth and allow the bowl to air-dry completely before storing.

• Do not use in a microwave, dishwasher, or oven.
  

宗達写（そうたつうつし）とは、江戸時代初期の絵師・**俵屋宗達**の画風を写した意匠を指します。大胆な構図と躍動感のある表現は、日本美術を代表する様式のひとつとして高く評価されています。

本作は、雷神を主題に、明るく張りのある黄釉の上に力強く描いた抹茶碗です。雷神は、自然の力や再生、厄を祓う存在として古くから親しまれ、力強くも縁起の良い象徴とされてきました。

美濃の藤山窯にて、加藤藤山が手がけた一碗で、宗達写の迫力ある意匠と、美濃焼ならではの確かな作りが調和しています。茶席に凛とした存在感をもたらす、印象的な抹茶碗です。

【お手入れ方法】
・ご使用前に、さっと水にくぐらせてからお使いください。
・ご使用後は、できるだけ早めにぬるま湯でやさしく洗ってください。
通常は洗剤を使わず、お湯洗いで十分です。
・汚れが気になる場合のみ、中性洗剤を少量使用し、やわらかいスポンジで軽く洗ってください。
・絵付け部分を強くこすったり、つけ置き洗いはお控えください。
・洗浄後は水気を拭き取り、十分に乾燥させてから保管してください。
・電子レンジ、食洗機、オーブンのご使用はお控えください。
