Natsume Tea Caddy

Natsume is a traditional container used to hold matcha powder during the preparation of usucha (thin tea).

While it is not essential for enjoying matcha in everyday life, it is a beautiful and practical item to have if you wish to host guests or experience a more ceremonial style of tea preparation.

When filling a natsume, first sift the matcha using a fine sifter or tea strainer to remove any clumps.
Then, use a chashaku (bamboo tea scoop) to gently transfer the matcha into the container, allowing it to sit lightly and naturally.

A natsume is not intended for long-term storage.
After your tea gathering, please return any remaining matcha to an airtight tea canister.

After use, avoid washing the natsume with water.
Instead, gently wipe away any remaining matcha with a tissue or a soft cloth before storing.

棗（なつめ）は、薄茶のお手前の際に使用する抹茶用の容器です。
日常的に抹茶を楽しむ場合には必須ではありませんが、お客様をおもてなししたいときや、儀式的にお抹茶を点ててみたい場合は、ひとつ持っておくと便利です。

棗に抹茶を入れる際は、まず抹茶ふるいや茶こしで抹茶をふるいます。
その後、茶杓で抹茶をすくい、ふんわりと盛るように棗へ入れていきます。

棗は長期保存用の容器ではありませんので、お茶会後に余った抹茶は、棗から茶缶などの密閉容器に戻してください。
使用後は水洗いを避け、ティッシュや柔らかい布で優しく抹茶を拭き取ってから保管してください。
